The Metadata and Identifiers
Working Group has a mission to create, endorse and/or adapt a framework for
modular metadata and identifier standards that will enable the effective use of
electronic books. These standards should suit the following
purposes for Metadata: Discovery, Identification, Organization, Administration,
Selection, Location and Preservation.
Also, to investigate existing and developing identifier schemes in relation to
ePublications and, if appropriate, to propose an identifier scheme to be used
for ePublications generally, and by OeBF particularly, as well as provide a
forum for all identifier-related issues within the OeBF.
